  • In a police chase that lasted 12 blocks and ended in a spectacular" crash in Golden Gate Park, three suspected robbers were sent to this hospital this morning, two of them life-threatening injuries. It all started at 3 a.m. after a witness called in to report that someone was breaking into a "gray Toyota pickup truck" at Seventh Avenue and Hugo Street. An off-duty cop later spotted the car at Seventh and Lincoln and tried to pull the car over to no avail, sending them on a chase. No one else was injured.
  • Within 15 minutes, two men were shot dead in San Francisco this past Friday night. The first victim was Keith Johnson, 24, of Vallejo. He was "shot in a car at 10:47 p.m. in the 1500 block of McKinnon Avenue." No arrests have been made yet.

The second killing occurred a few minutes later at 11 p.m. The victim, Santos Rafael Canto-Aldana, 2,1 was "shot in the 2300 block of Mission Street," and later died at SF General. It seems that Canto-Aldana had no prior criminal history, according to the Gate, and "may have been in the wrong place, or wearing the wrong color."

Speaking of shootings, I applaud the two stores and their owners in Oakland who pulled out their own guns and shot some lead into the butts of criminals trying to rob them.
