Woman Crushed by Falling Tree at Stern Grove

falling%20tree.jpg

Well, this is some sad news.

An unidentified woman was sent to the hospital today with life-threatening injuries after part of a redwood tree fell and smashed her at Stern Grove today. It seems, according to KCBS, that the woman had just walked her dog, who was not hurt, and as she was getting into her Subaru Outback near Concert Meadow, "part of a tree broke off and fell," crushing her as it came plummeting down.

The woman was whisked away to San Francisco General Hospital by paramedics, in critical condition.

Update: She died at 12:14 p.m.

Per SFGATE - she's dead.

= (

poor doggie.

and SFGATE is running a photo with their story that clearly shows her car license plate #.

classy!

Poor, poor lady.

Bummer. My thoughts go out to her pet and other loved ones.

I'm sorry, but do people care more about the dog or the recently deceased woman?

i don't think it's a contest between the two. it's sad she died; it's sad her dog lost his or her best pal.

what happened to the dog?

That's just tragic. You walk out the door and take your dog for a walk in the park then a fucking tree falls down and kills you. Be kind people. You never know when a meteor somewhere in outer space has your number.

I saw this happen to a girl on campus of my wooded university. Luckily, she was only sent out in an ambulance and was mostly ok.

Be careful, kiddos.

So sad. But at least her last day was in a pretty park, in nice weather, getting exercise with her pet. If it's your time to take a bow, that's not a bad way to do it.

And Scott Peterson is still alive. Do y'all still believe in god?

Scott Peterson?!? What about Dick Che...

Oh, nevermind.

The dog will get a new best friend.

Identified as Kathleen Bolton, 50 of SF.

Likely her with said dogs: http://users.rcn.com/kbolton

Growing up in a logging community this kind of thing was pretty common. They called falling redwood branches "Widow Makers" for obvious reasons.

i want to help find the dogs a new home if need be. someone please try and follow up on that.

She shared the dogs with her upstairs neighbor...that's who has them now.
