Urban Fighting Scalpers Meet Suburban Mom

While capturing some delicious footage of two ticket scalpers having a heated discussion about overlapping sales territories, Flickr's peephole also caught a woman's soci-breakdown of the profanity-laced dispute.

Ticket scalpers, always going on and on about race.

In related news: Flickr video, the best thing to happen in the world, ever? Probably.

The way you had it written before, though totally offensive and wrong, made a lot more sense...

I find your embrace of the surveillance society to be both disturbing and sad. You, sir, are complicit in your own oppression.

i'm also a cutter.

Is it that sometimes the pain inside has to come to the surface ... ?

totally. it's so i can feel.

Yeah? Do you wear a special bracelet and keep a secret blog full of "cutterspirations" too?

my thinspirations are typically my cutterspirations. and it's not a blog, it's a sticker book.

Are the stickers scratch and sniff?

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel

I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real

The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting

Flickr video the best thing ever? I'm not sure about that - I liked it better when it was non-moving pictures.

What event were they scalping tickets to? An Obama fundraiser?

But seriously, the prevalence of these types of videos is kinda silly. Reminds me of a friend who finds it necessary to narrate his entire life to me.

I'm sorry but seeing a bum take a shit on the sidewalk does not rise to the level of an interesting story.

If punches were thrown... bring it on.

A fight almost breaking out on the street with a Grand Theft Auto 4 billboard in the background.

Gotta be some irony there?

Pardon my lack-of-being-in-the-knowedness, but why is Flickr Video going to be so great? You have to be pay like $25 a year, right. Why pay that when YouTube is free?

I'm sure there's an obvious answer that I'm just not hip to.

the comments on youtube are appalling, imo.

Hi-- this is my video.

A couple things:

I wanted to capture the yelling scalpers (this is at 5th & Townsend, near Caltrain, soon before the Giants game, btw) because they just kept going and their insults were amusing, but I was just using a little point and shoot and did not really want to walk right up to them. So-- eh. That was kind of a wash, but just when I was leaving, the especially dorky seeming family came along. You miss most of what is said, but the thing that is clear is the mom explaining this situation to her kids by saying, "This may be about race. Because they're different races." Uh. WHAT? Anyway-- that tidbit is what I posted it for.

Re: Flickr video-- I am not a video-maker and am just a taker of snapshots, and it seems like it is a little easier to just throw up those few seconds of, say, my cat licking my husband's head or whatever onto Flickr than Youtube, because I am already putting up dorky pics for my family and friends there. But if you don't already pay for Flickr and you already regularly use Youtube, I don't really know why you'd bother. I pretty much just put this up, because it was there. And now it's here, which it probably wouldn't have been had I put it on Youtube, I guess.

peephole - excellent job. now where is the link for the kitty-kat licking your husband?

I'm looking forward to this.

(um, cat licking husband is on youtube-- but it is the sort of thing i would have put on flickr if they'd had video back in the stone ages of feb.08)

I agree, it's nice to have all the items produced by your camera in one place. I'll probably end up paying for the video too.

Brock, the comments on flickr will begin the descent as well... maybe the medium is the messenger?

true.

marshul micloohan sez fuk u sux0rzz!!!!

My cat used to lick my hair when he wanted to be fed in the morning. Now he just swats me with his paw until I get out of bed.

those guys all work the teh Stubhub which has it's little pick up office over in So Park - they all bicker about which side of the street they can stand on every single day. it's pretty amusing during game day but they all head to the same bar at the end of it.
