A scene from today's West Approach christening. There was barbecued ribs, a svelte Gavin Newsom, someone who looked like Wade Crowfoot but cruelly ignoring your SFist editor, well-fed and uber-friendly homeless folks, and lots of melty cupcakes.
Ain't no party like a city-sponsored Stillman Street block party, y'all.
Like clockwork, our cellphone's camera broke--see you in hell, BlackBerry--so we were unable to snap any images as anticipated, but Jim Herd was on the scene, getting the above great shot of Arnold strutting his signature walk on the new Highway 80 expansion.
Anyway, good job to all involved in getting this project done ahead of schedule.

Dude, Wade Crowfoot is not hot. He has a deformed nose or something. Your taste in men is strange and offputting.
You're hot, TAYM.
I guess "done ahead of schedule" has been redefined to include projects that aren't done, are still propped up with 2x4 lumber, and don't have street lights, signs, or signals. But props to Caltrans for bringing in the BBQ.
I thought that the barbeque was more like *blah*-beque.
PLOW FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I did like the compostable knife and fork, though.)
It had better be close to done, since it opens tomorrow AM.
Maybe now the backups won't extend all the way to Army Street?
Why does the Terminator need 4 security guards??? No wonder these politicians think the world is a safe place, they get full security details paid for by the public. Start letting Ahhhnold and Gavin and the rest of them walk around like the rest of us and watch how quickly violent crime gets fixed.
