Chocolate alert! Don't forget to hit the Chocolate Salon at Fort Mason this Sunday.

Here are today's highlights from local food sections:

San Francisco Chronicle
: Have a spring (food) fling! Macerated, boozy strawberries with meringue sounds easy and intriguing. The butter braised carrots, peas & favas are appealing, too. Passover prepared nibbles are available at many locations. Palmetto Restaurant on Union Street couldn't even make it for one year, and is closing due to "a perfect storm of events."

San Jose Mercury News: Beautiful pork belly! The beer versus wine pairing debate continues, with the author of 'He Said Beer, She Said Wine,' contributing. Mmmmm get your slow cooker ready for some serious soup action.

Contra Costa (CoCo) Times
: Latest chicken craze: air-chillin', which even gets a nod from Harold McGee. Eat (pea) shoots and leaves. Light chocolate soy milk is analyzed (blech!!).
