Olympic Torch Route to Go Through Berry Street?

OLYMPIC%20TORCH%20ROUTE.jpg

While we can say for sure where the torch route will go tomorrow--KTVU confusedly announced the "official map route" during today's noon broadcast and KPIX interviewed a fake Bono, so we can't be sure of anything anymore--we can take a stab at it, yes? Yes.

Rumor ia that the torch run might--might--go through Berry Street. You know, that little strip of street near the AT&T park? That borders China Basin? Near SF Weekly's office? Next to the cocaine-like coffee poured by the good folks over at Philz?

Anyway, the UCSF shuttle bus that goes through there had a sign saying that Berry Street "would be closed [tomorrow] but 4th street would be open." Which would make sense: it's a skinny slip of a street with tall buildings surrounding it, perfect for ample police presence. But we'll fill you in with more when (of if) we know the route for sure.

If the torch can stay lit in the wind that sweeps down Berry Street at 4th, I'd say it won't have a problem around the rest of the route. That wind is fierce!

Fine, if they don't want to reveal the path then we can just have an impromptu Critical Mass.

Why do I feel like trying to catch Caltrain at 4:19 pm tomorrow for the first home Sharks playoff game may be a disaster in the making?

Wait, wait, wait. I thought SF promised with Cherry's on top and butterflies and unicorns to make the route public. What happened to that, huh? I can't trust anything anymore.

Also I love Google contextual ads:

Olympic Mascots: "Kid's Love Them!"

Olympic San Francisco: "Find out the truth. Then go."

More MUNI details.

I saw that interview with the fake Bono. I was sitting there thinking, "Um, that is NOT Bono." I can't believe they fell for it.
