SFIFF Time!

It's getting to be that time of the year! Where the ads on MUNI buses as they drive by beckon you to escape the usual Metreon-flavored cinematic lineup of Run Fat Boy Run and Horton Hears A Who and instead promise beautiful South American vistas, or moody European cities, or documentaries about the Bay Area -- that's right, it's almost time for the SF Int'l Film Festival!

As you can see above, the film fest runs from April 24 through May 8, and tickets are on sale now. Act quickly, as the hottest movies (including the movie where Ben Kingsley and Mary Kate Olsen make out) tend to sell out fast.

The lineup looks great -- we're intrigued by, among many others, American Teen (described as a Breakfast Club documentary), Go-Go Tales (an Abel Ferrera movie about a strip club, starring Willem Dafoe), and the opening night movie, the Last Mistress, (pictured above), a period piece about the machinations of the French aristocracy, starring Asia Argento.

As always, SFist will be covering the SFIFF from the movie theaters and the streets, so we'll see you guys there!

Asia Argento makes me all floopy inside .

I saw a Argentenian film in 2005 called "Las mantendias sin suenos" which was beautiful. It has stuck with me ever since. I can't wait!

Or rather an Argentinian film. "Argentenia" is not known for its cinema.
