*MUSIC: If Bay Guardian calendar/music editors felt it necessary to put an asterisk by the following musical outfits in their music guide, then so do we. That, and we like their sound. All the way from Tehran, Iran, comes 127, throwing down rock-infused jazz gems in the Mission. Griddle and the Lovers open.
9 p.m. // Elbo Room (647 Valencia) // $7
FILM: Need your daily Tibet fix? Of course you do, so check out Daughters of Wisdom, a documentary about "Kala Rongo, a rare and exceptional Buddhist Monastery for nuns situated in Nangchen," What's nice about this study of Buddhism is that it's stripped of the exotic fetishism normally found in these kinds of flicks. Michal Fox describes it as an "assuming film emphasiz[ing] the human rather than the sacred." Nifty. So...there you go.
7:15 p.m. & 9:15 p.m. // Red Vic (1727 Haight) // $5-8.50
HIV SUPPORT: You don't have to keep those questions and concerns about being HIV-positive in your head, folks? Because keeping all that in is what might kill you, one way or another. Instead, head over to Bay Positives Weekly Drop-in to chat about HIV, what to do, and to meet others who can help you out or just provide and ear or a shoulder.
7 p.m.-9 p.m. // Bay Positives (701 Oak) // free
