*CLUB: Proving that crystal meth has yet to ravage the entire gay population of San Francisco, "Planet Big" shows that the queer heavy-set sect is alive and kicking in the Bay Area. DJs Amadeus and Chub Jim spin for the chubs (and their admirers) until the wee hours of the morning.

9 p.m. - 2 a.m. // The Stud (399 Ninth Street) // $5

COMEDY: Jeff Garlin, funny man from Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David's manager and husband to the most awesome woman in the universe!) and star of I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With (Sarah Silverman's portly love interest!), performs his knee pounding stand-up comedy in North Beach.

8 p.m. & 10:15 p.m. // Cobb's Comedy Club (915 Columbus) // $23.15

MUSIC: It's a genre-bending night of chin-scratching tunes in Potrero Hill featuring Evangelista (Goth rock), El Olio Wolof (classical garage-folk rock), Mute Socialite (post-punk indie), and Death Sentence: PANDA! (ibid.).

9 p.m. // Bottom of the Hill (1233 - 17th Street) // $10

FILM: There's no excuse for missing Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958)--which was restored a little over a decade ago, with breathtaking and vibrant results--at the Castro Theater. None. If you have yet to catch this San Francisco-based masterpiece about mistaken identity and desire, starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara ("Skid row!") Bel Geddes, now is your chance.

7 p.m. & 9:35 p.m. // Castro Theatre (Castro and Martet Sts.) // $6-9
