There are definitely some parts of the City that I avoid walking around after Midnight - SoMa, west of 5th Street, is one of those areas fo' sho'

I just still can't get over the fact that no one ever gets caught in this city. Thats the scary part. And I think the criminals are catching on to that. Also don't security guard's have mace???

Advocatory, I have been living in SF since 1979. The crime level, and/or our perception of it, seems to rise and fall in cycles. Right now I think tend to agree with you that things are getting worse again.

Is it just me, or is our fair City all f'ed up? I don't think it is just because I am older and perhaps stodgier than I was 10 years ago when I moved to the Bay Area... but I haven't ever felt that nagging edge of uneasiness on the streets until recently. Thoughts?
