I feel so bad for those who were impacted. E.T. is right about renter's insurance. Every tenant should try to get it if $$$ possible. It covers your stuff if you get to be the victim of a fire, but very importantly it covers you if YOU start the fire even by accident. Owner's insurance pays for rebuilding, then if you are liable the owner's insurance company generally sues you for repayment. Same applies for all the other tenants in the building who have insurance. They get paid you get sued. UGLY. I don't think a lot of people understand this. Rita- maybe a piece on this when you update the story today?

I seriously hope these tenants have Renters insurance... I've been through a major fire recently and we'd've been so totally screwed without it. All these folks have my sympathy, going through a fire is terrible. :(
