Muni Responds To Patrons Who Are Either Hot or Not
What with today's controversy surroundings James -- SFist's new photo editor, we should note (surprise!) -- and the brouhaha surrounding his NBC 11 appearance, we asked the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency for a comment on the pressing situation at hand. Fearing a second plane would crash into the Muni Hot-or-Not item, we braced ourselves for what was to come next.
Turns out they love it. And who wouldn't? It's awesome. When asked about Hot/Not, Kristen Holland, SFMTA spokesperson, offered SFist a green pimping statement:
We think all our Muni customers, and anyone who rides transit, is made hot by using a green sustainable form of transportation.

The San Francisco County Transit Authority (TA) is not the same as the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA)
The SFMTA was created when the Dept. Parking and Traffic (DPT) and Muni were merged in the wake of the Muni Meltdown and is pretty much responsible for anything transit or transportation related. That includes bike lanes (and they're the ones doing the EIR/S required to get around the injunction), traffic calming and management, and come June the Taxi commission will be merged in as well.
The TA was created by the Prop K sales tax to control spending of the taxes money. The TA adds a lot of red tape, delays and administrative overhead between the SFMTA and the tax money intended to fund the SFMTA. The TA has also become a sort of second transit agency by embarking on the Geary and Van Ness Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.
can you ask james to take a few pictures of some girls for us? we don't all like the boys.
