Berkeley + Daily Show Segment = Hee
In case you missed The Daily Show last night-- not that any member of the self-respecting Bay Area intelligentsia would dare to admit missing a second of sparkling political satire -- check out Berkeley and its Marine corps nonsense getting skewered last night care of Jon Stewart's clan. It's chock full of funny. (Except the overt and cruel hippie-hating part, which we find not only a played out but a bit dangerous; there's nothing wrong with being a hippie, people.) Be sure to check it out.
Two highlights to note: "If only there was an organization sworn to defend that free speech," and at around 3:33.

Alas - no cable makes me uniformed in ways reading the NY Times just doesn't cover.
"uniformed" or "uninformed"? The marines are the former, I am the latter.
I love the Daily Show calling anyone out on their stuff. Damn hippies and their patchouli scented city council.

I'm just saying the NY Times is only so large a paper and can't quite wrap entirely around my bare body.
I saw it last night. Hilarious! My favorite was when one Code Pink member interrupted another member's interview, dancing in front of the camera and saying, "End the war in Iraq."
Neutral to the political topic, the piece wasn't very funny.
"not that any member of the self-respecting Bay Area intelligentsia would dare to admit missing a second of sparkling political satire"
You of course mean the ones who aren't so smugly superior that they wouldn't dare admit to owning a television set.
says who generati?
i take it you are one of these pink terrorists?
wll, sck t! [disemvowel by SFist]
If by Bay Area intelligentsia you mean "dotcom marketing schlubs," then we're in total agreement.
i mean the people who live in dogpatch, and only dogpatch.
Code Pink have to be a creation of the GOP. There is no way intelligent adults can possibly believe they help the anti war movement by acting like that.
Classic Daily Show though, reminds of that line from Naked: Stuttering man: ARE YOU TAKING THE PISS?
Thewliss: NO, YOU'RE GIVING IT AWAY.
And that hippy going on about how great it would be to have a department of peace where conflicts could be resolved by discussion. I don't know if he's ever heard of the diplomatic core, embassies, ambassadors and all that. They've only been around for a couple of millenia.
I don't respect Code Pink but that still didn't make this any amount of funny at all, sadly.
Oh come come. A bunch of hormone replacement therapy patients acting like 11 year old girls? That's funny.
Ugh, yet another reason for mocking by my red state friends/relatives.
On the other hand, yet another reason to not visit that red state, thus avoiding said mocking.
I think I win.
This group is a huge embarrassment and is accomplishing nothing but cementing the Bay Area's rep as national laughingstock.
I saw Rob Riggle in person at an Upright Citizens' Bridgade ASSSCAT performance last month. He was funny. Funnier than this Daily Show piece, which was still a little funny.
But really, you could give anyone a microphone, a camera, and have them interview Code Pink-types, and it will still be pretty amusing/pathetic.
So this is what bored housewives do all day instead of watching soap operas. What a bunch of whack jobs.
"Semper Fi, Code Pink. Semper Fi."
I don't have cable anymore because it's kind of a ripoff so I missed this, it had its moments.
Code Pink did a wonderful job costing the City of Berkeley lots of money, stirring up shit over a totally meaningless and toothless "resolution" (ooh how effective) and went on to the next city for their next bit of fun.
Meanwhile, nothing changed. No war stopped, no big change, and a lot of bla bla bla on our blogs. (Kinda like Magical Matt's candyland run for VP)
Kinda says it all. SF Activism 2008 is all about hot air and big talk - but no one has it in them to really DO something that might have a real impact in the lives of their "community", they instead showboat.
why did suck it get censored?
