rook, i fear in some parts of the country, this musical is a reality for some families. maybe that is the real problem these homophobes have with the marriage act. they want to reserve the right to sodomize their own kin and for nobody else.

I'm all for free speech. I just wish, just once, one of these anti gay marriage people could give me an argument against gay marriage that actually had some basis in reality. I moved out here to get away from people like this. Very disheartening to know they're everywhere.

I watched a nice chunk of orals this morning and I'm not so sure that 'the dickwads' are going to win. Only one justice seemed really anti-same-sex marriage, and the questioning was much harsher on the state and 'pro-family' lawyers anyway. I give it a 50/50...

There's, apparently, a lot of reasons for someone to hate. Clearly, not all anti-gay bigots are closet cases; that's way too simplistic. But, as with Ted Haggard & Mark Foley, one motivation for bigotry is as a means of suppressing "unacceptable" urges. And that applies across all sexual orientations (David Vitter, Jimmy Swaggart, and on and on and on). There was a study done not too long ago where participants were shown images of homosexual sex, and both gay men AND men who identified themselves as heterosexual and anti-gay had measured increases in arousal states (hetero men who were not anti-gay largely showed no increase in arousal).
