Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny shielding themselves from your gaze.

Every year, we spend Saturday at WonderCon in Hall A, watching panels of filmmakers and actors prattle on about upcoming films, and show exclusive clips and trailers. This year, we kept a running diary. Ahem:
11:12 AM – We’re in a gigantic line for WonderCon. In the pre-registration line, which is significantly longer than the pay-at-the-door line. So glad we paid in advance.
11:35 AM – Hall A is super packed. People are holding entire rows. We did manage to get an acceptable place to sit, not too far from the panel, and with a good view of the screen.
12:00 – The 10,000 BC panel is starting. We’ve got director Roland Emmerich along with two actors we’ve never heard of. One guy, one girl. They’re both very pretty.
12:16 PM – Roland Emmerich is funnier than expected. No one seems to care about the cast.
12:30 PM – The Get Smart panel. The director is here, along with stars Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway. Now, these are movie stars.
12:45 PM – Every question so far has been for Steve Carell. He is, as expected, hilarious.
12:46 PM – Finally, the first question for Anne Hathaway: What’s it like working with Steve?
12:54 PM – Anne Hathaway comes across as really smart. She either is, or she’s really good at acting it.
1:00 PM – The Narnia panel is starting. The only person who came was a special effects guy. How sad.
1:21 PM – The film clips look cool, but no one has any questions for the special effects dude. He’s a “legendary Oscar winner,” but we still feel bad for him. They want to see cute British kids. Who can blame them?
1:30 PM – The Wall-E panel is beginning, with director Andrew Stanton, who last made Finding Nemo.
1:42 PM – Whoa. The clips from Wall-E look AMAZING. Can’t wait to see this one.
1:55PM – News flash: Toy Story 3 is being made natively as a digital 3D movie. Cool.
2:00PM – The panel for Shutter, a horror movie from Fox. Some people in our section have got us ready to yell "Flying V" when Joshua Jackson comes out.
2:10 PM – We don’t care about Shutter, and Joshua Jackson is a no-show. He’s busy filming a pilot in Toronto, and “really wanted to be here.”
2:23 PM – Still here. Still don’t care about Shutter.
2:32 PM – Don’t think anyone cares about Shutter.
2:37 PM – Uh oh. The X-Files panel is beginning. People are going ballistic. This is louder than a rock concert. This is the first time David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have made a joint convention appearance.
2:39 PM – Gillian Anderson looks smokin’ hot.
2:52 PM – All these useless flash bulbs are giving me a headache.
2:57 PM – A woman just told them she named her kid with the initials TXF because she’s such a big fan. Something Xander Something.
3:04 PM – David and Gillian have an interesting chemistry. Bet they’ve hooked up.
3:19 PM – The hall is emptying after X-Files. We expect it to fill again for Iron Man.
3:25 PM – The Harold and Kumar panel starts a bit late. Harold is here. No Kumar. And two director/writers.
3:36 PM – John Cho won’t give away any Star Trek secrets.
3:42 PM – Awesome question for John Cho: How does it feel to be the face of the word MILF?
4:00 PM – The Iron Man panel starts. Jon Favreau is doing this one solo. He is great at Q&A, the film clips like outstanding, and he leaves to a standing ovation. This movie is a hit.
4:40 PM – Everyone is leaving for the Lucasfilm thing. Including us. Got to check out the show floor a bit.
5:11 PM – The show floor is overcrowded, and the guy selling Mario mushroom throw pillows only takes cash. Time to go back and watch the Lucasfilm thing.
6:00 PM – The Clone Wars animation looks pretty astounding. Worried about the story.
6:02 PM – It’s time for a world premiere of a made-for-DVD movie Justice League: New Frontier, based on the Darwyn Cooke graphic novel.
7:28 PM – That movie was pretty good! If you’re a DC junkie, you should definitely buy it, or add it to your Netflix queue.
7:33 PM – We’ve been promised a "one more thing." Fine. Better stay and watch the panel.
7:40 PM – The guy from Warner gets a huge laugh when he tells everyone the movie is coming out on HD-DVD. The format is a joke now.
8:01 PM -- They showed us the trailer and some interview segments about Batman: Gotham Knight, a made-for-DVD animated film done in "Japanese Anime" style. As opposed to Dutch Anime style, we guess. It is ridiculously good footage.
8:05 PM – There’s a huge crush to get out of here, and we’re off to dinner. Another year of film panels done. Bye.

Too bad he missed out on Friday's panel for Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Wanted. Especially the former, as Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Jack McBrayer AND some funny English dood with crazy hair were there. Really enjoyable. The Wanted footage they showed was crazy awesome good as well.
I heard great things about those panels (I'm sure both of them were way better than the Shutter panel), but my day job prevented me from being there. FYI, the crazily coiffed British bloke from Forgetting Sarah Marshall is Russell Brand.
