What I find odd is that the story implies the giraffe was alone when it gave birth. Even cattle and goats usually have a vet standing by when they give birth (or they did where I grew up). An exotic, expensive zoo animal is in the final stages of gestation and no one is around? It's another indication of how poorly run this zoo is, in my opinion.

I was just about to type, "so cute!" and then I saw my name next to "pregnant." Good to know my name has become so trendy even animals are using it. Back in the '80s it was primarily only spelled in a variety of hillbilly-esque ways: Lee Anne, Leigh Anne, Leeann... Maybe it will evolve even further and we'll start seeing a diverse lot of futuristic girls named Li Ayn.
