Suspicious Box Found in Oakland Marina, Bomb Squad On the Scene

suspicious%20box.jpg

Eeps! The bomb squad has been called over to the Oakland Marina this afternoon. It seems, according to Wendy Tokuda, that a box has been found, adorned with the text "81 millimeter mortar shells." Check out the live, alarmist web cast of the situation in progress here.

Is it explosive? Is it a hoax? Will it blow? We'll update you when we find out more, or hear a loud "ka-pow" off in the distance.

Update: Oakland Police called off the bomb threat. It turns out that the box was holding tools, not explosives. Whew.

Wendy hasn't been the same since Dave left us.

Whew. For a minute I thought it was a set-up for the new Discovery Channel show, "Crank Lab".
