This was the early view of our eclipse from Twin Peaks showing the shadow of Earth on the face of the moon shortly before clouds obscured the whole shebang. Larger photo here.

This is the best we could do. San Franciscans should have been able to see a mostly red moon, but the fog and clouds prevented that, mostly. Après-dinner around 9:00 PM we looked up again and noticed the clouds were gone by then, so maybe some dedicated Bay Areans got a better gander than us? How about you?
Ideally, you'd have seen something like this. Better luck next year (or maybe December, 2010)!
Update: The cold dawn of day reveals reactions from a poetic UCSF med student, a writerly editor and a hungry dumpster diver. But the winning eclipse post comes from SFSU's Golden Gate XPress with a photo from Stephen Lam that shows us as much of the red moon that you could have seen from S.F. this go around. Check it out.

great shot jim. what kind of camera and lens is that?
Canon 5D, 600mm 4.0 IS lens with a 2x extender.
The moon with direct sunlight on it, as in the photo, is very bright.
It's a lot tougher to get a good shot of the much darker red, fully eclipsed moon
I can't see the American flag we left in 1969.
What's wrong with camera geeks today anyway?
