ok, so if bernie was actually doing book research, wouldn't he be able to just wave some evidence of it in front of the cops? you know, things any shmoe does when kicking off a book effort ... like maybe the start of a manuscript? or a precis? ... perhaps an outline? or hell, some research notes jotted on the back of a Gold Club napkin, for that matter? am i missing (guilty) something here, or perhaps he left the evidence in the trunk of his car? doh.
