The Elusive Vawanda Discovered!

Remember Vawanda? The Muni bus driver whose bravery many of you refused to believe in? Well, as fate would have it, local treasure Jameth, who uses her ad image as an avatar, finally found her! Driving the 47-Van Ness with aplomb and nerves of steel, she even has her testimonial poster next her. Nothing short of adorable, folks.
Great find, Jameth.

Vawanda, she a fighter!
"As a driver I have to put up with a lot. The other day there was some white woman trying to ask me where fisherman's wharf is... we were already there. So I told her to get on board, pay her $1.50 and that I'd tell her to get off when she had arrived. I dropped her sorry ass off in the castro and laughed all the way back to the wharf. I'm sure she got there on her own... somehow. "
"MUNI pays more than welfare, which is why I took this job. I can sit on my butt at home listening to my ipod, or I can sit on a MUNI subway train listening to my ipod. It's an easy decision once you factor in the money."
"Sometimes when I hear the screams of a passenger trapped in the door as we're approaching the end of the station I listen extra hard so I can here the thump of his body hitting the wall. I hate when the passengers try to signal me in a panic though, it makes the thump harder to hear."
Greatest celebrity sighting ever. Fie upon those who criticize Vawanda. She fought off a crazy dude while driving a bus! And look at those glasses on a string. This lady is an American HERO.
The glasses on a string are by far the best part.
Generati, those anecdotes are absolute GEMS!
"I am one of the few white male bus drivers MUNI has. I like to celebrate this fact by taking my anger out on the passengers. I do this by slamming on the brakes as hard as I can mid block when the riders least expect it. Sometimes they get hurt and ask to be let off. I drive an extra block to show them who's boss. Sometimes if I'm drunk I go two extra blocks."
