you're just not cool if you're not stripped of your fob, passwords nuked, and escorted to the door. trust me. we used to do it in a highly-coordinated fashion not unlike a military operation. especially when laying off IT people. it's software, folks, not starbucks.

Some places just send an email, or leave a voicemail. No balls by managers. When I had to do it, it was horrible for both me and the person, but I always did it face to face.

I've only been laid off once, from a fairly small company, and I was asked to stay around several weeks to complete some work before my severance kicked. I suppose that is better than being escorted out, but I can't say I was highly motivated those extra weeks.

Layoffs are never touchy feely, are they? The best you can hope for is a chance to pack up your personal effects before being shown the door ... or in my case, a few days notice from a good friend that alerted me that I needed to pack my stuff up.

Which tipster is sexier? This is impossible to determine without their MySpace profile photos. What takes me aback is the harshly strucutured tactics here. That indicates it's worse than people suspected it would be and at least some are getting fucked on severance. Condolences, you guys.

Second one is sexier by default. "Peeps" are soft and delicious marshmellow chews, and seasonally appropriate, but they are not sexy. Presumably someone who recognizes weird vibes would also recognize hot vibes or randy vibes or other vibage too. Sorry for the folks at Yahoo. Sounds awful.
