Is there something about the Macarthur Maze that makes it easily flammable? There's a one to two hour delay basically in all directions after another fire closed down the onramps to the westbound Bay Bridge. Sounds like today's fire broke out in the joints of the bridge, though, so it's not another truck careening out of control and slamming into a pole, at least. No injuries reported either, which we're also glad to hear.
They don't know the cause of today's fire yet, but it sounds like it's not too far from where the fire in May was -- again on the westbound 80 interchange, but this time heading to the 580 onramp and not the 880 South one, so the overpass that's affected we think is the carpool to the Bay Bridge one....? We're never sure which ramp is which -- maybe it's the 580 E-80 E one?
Well, anyways, we'll post more as we learn it, including the inevitable correction when it turns out we got the interchanges and affected overpasses and directions wrong (they don't call it a maze for nothin'!).
All lanes are now open, but we're sure it's going to be pretty clogged for awhile. Hello, BART.
Picture from CBS 5.

Looks like the 580W swoop into the toll approach. I really don't see what the hysteria is over this, other than by way of the other accident. People ship flammable shit and commuters drive like crap, big news.
There's no 580E to 80E connector...It's way too confusing, but 580E is the same as 80W, the Eastshore. According to sfgate, the fire was on the crossover but lanes on the Eastshore (80W/580E) leading to 580E and 880S were blocked.
http://www.429truth.com/ suspects another conspiracy!
