Well, that was a bloody weekend.

  • Since Friday, Oakland was the unfortunate recipient of five homicides. Sunday, on the 6500 block of Outlook Avenue at about 11:15 p.m., two unidentified women where found shot to death in a van. No arrests have been made. This double murder occurred just one day after a women was shot while holding her 8-month-old baby. Maria Isabel Flores, while throwing a birthday party for her child, was sheltering her child from gunfire as everyone else dropped to the floor. And the gunfire? Could have possible come from one of the "four people who were inside a white Nissan pickup truck parked outside the home for more than a half an hour" before the incident.

The two other discoveries happened on Saturday morning, where a 40-year-old man's body was found on the 3300 block of 64th Avenue Place, and Friday afternoon, where a 23-year-old woman was found dead due to a gunshot would on the 800 block of 41st Street.

This brings Oakland's homicide total to 13.

  • And on the other side of the Bay Bridge, 27-year-old Vaughn DeMarco and 29 year-old James Gibson were found shot to death in Visitacion Valley early Sunday morning. The shooting was reported at around 1:30 a.m. on "the 100 block of Loehr Street." No arrests have been made. Alas.
