Muni Citations: Now Slightly Less Awful

youthfare.png
Attention criminals: as of this week, your swashbuckling days of villainy and misbegotten Muni rides have become easy and breezy. Muni has "decriminalized" citations, which means that you won't have to go to court to deal with them. Now, you can contest or pay them through the Customer Service Center at 11 South Van Ness, just like parking tickets. You can also deal with citations via phone, or mail; and allegedly you can pay them via Internet, although we searched the CityServices site and couldn't find it, nor could we find any mention of it on Muni's site. The program starts Feb 4, so the links might just not be up yet.

But website confusion notwithstanding, it's still pretty cool that citations have been streamlined. It's almost ... dare we say it ... convenient! Well done, Muni. An actual job well done. We're rendered utterly unsarcastic with surprise and admiration.

what year is that transfer from??

nevermind i just clicked and wha-la!! awesome. now i have something to do until the game starts.

This was smart, because now most people will choose to PAY them rather than take them to court and wait ages until their court cases come up to roll the dice on a challenge.

Now if only the kids spitting sunflower seeds could get ticketed and/or Denver Booted until they comply with basic courtesy and safety rules.

Have you ever contested a parking ticket? I can't see this being a easy thing in the long run.

You're supposed to be able to search for and pay for your parking and muni tickets on this site, but the search does not pull mine up (which I got 7/8 AM, it has been almost a week). Guess that means I don't have to pay it?!
