MacArthur BART Adjacent Shooting Kills One

And a day before BART Rider Appreciation, no less? Sad.

Yesterday, at around 1:20 p.m. near Apgar Street and Martin Luther King Jr. in Oakland, a 20-year-old man was shot and killed, and an 18-year-old seriously injured, after "being shot on the street near the MacArthur BART station." Police aren't sure why Nathan Taylor or Donte Davis, respectively, were gunned down, but if you know anything, spill it to the police at 510-238-3821.

I saw that at the Gate and was like, "huh?" having spent a good number of years living near the MacArthur BART station, I had to look it up. I guess it is close, but completely separate from the station by a freeway. And not the two connecting streets to the station (40th or MacArthur). I mean why not say a shooting near 24, unless the intention was just to shock people and make them think that the station wasn't safe. Bad, Chron. Bad, SFist.
