Banning alcohol sales is known as "prohibition," in case anyone wants to remind Peskin. Banning new liquor licenses is the exact same thing.

i've hated peskin ever since he single handidly cancelled the bgi bike race through north beach

now the rest of you can join me

pot clubs on every corner, no bars though

brilliant!

Huh?! More thefrontsteps spam?

My son walks up to me today and says, "Daddy, whatcha doin'?".

My reply, "Son, I'm writing a thank you note to sfist for putting a link to my site."

"What's a thank you note, Daddy?"

"Well Son, grown ups do it as a way to say thank you for something they like."

"Oh, What else is it?"

My reply, "aj thinks it's Spam."

"Tell aj to harden the f**k up, daddy."

"I will son, thanks."

1015 to have bands?

Why now?

Why not 10 years ago?

i actually like some of the new design changes at the chronicle lately. the business section, home section, dining, etc. all seem to have been revisited with fresh new talent. i am a fan now.

say goodnight phil!

But the Chron writers still can't write for s**t, and there are apparently no editors at all.

davey: because 10 years ago a lot of people would still show up for DJs who play the kind of music that 1015 is known for, which is "bridge and tunnel mainstream club music." Not as crap mainstream as Ruby Skye and the like, but still in that class. Nowadays a lot of the DJ scene is in niche and genres and smaller clubs turn people away, but 1015 is too glitzy to for that stuff. Therefore, bands.

I like Peskin. I'll have to read up on this proposed ban to see exactly what it entails, but as far as "pot clubs on every corner, but no bars" is concerned, anyone who takes a stroll through North Beach knows there is a bar on every corner and not a pot club in sight.

OK alexc, but anyone who reads the "Contribute Now" section has seen it flooded with thefrontsteps comments on highly random real estate issues from time to time.

Still, if your son (or anyone else) tells me to harden the fuck up, well, that's what I'll do. No asterisks needed.
