RIP: Heath Ledger Found Dead

Australia-born actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his NYC apartment today. It is reported that he allegedly died of either a drug overdose or hanging at Mary-Kate Olsen's apartment. More details as they come in. Sad. Very much so. Read more about the actor here and here.
You may start any and all Brokeback Mountain references starting...now.
UPDATE: According to our parent site, Gothamist:
The housekeeper and masseuse tried to awake him and called the authorities when he did not respond. When the paramedics responded he was in full cardiac arrest and they attempted to perform CPR. It was unsuccessful, however, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The police say foul play is not suspected.
He was not, as was reported in the New York Times, found dead inside MK Olsen's pad.
Weighing in with hard-boiled insouciance on the death of the Academy Award nominee (on announcement day no less! Have you no shame?), check out SFBG and SF Weekly also getting in on the traffic-enticing action.

Really sad. He was so cute and talented.
Must have been that staph thing...
Oh no? It was drugs. (sigh) Drugs.
It's sad when cute people die.
Is it in bad taste to make a Death Ledger joke? It is?
shit.
wow...that's totally unexpected.
what's worse is that he was found dead in mary kate olsen's apartment. so awful!
One of the blurbs stated that, "very powerful over the counter drugs" were found all over the floor next to him.
What the hell kinda stuff they sellin at Walgreens?
What?!? Holy cow...
Either Duane Reade or Rite Aid.
But never Walgreens. Never.
I think there's a lesson in this for everyone. Never name your child after a candy bar.
I saw Busy Phillips at the Freaks and Geeks reunion show at Cobb's on Sunday. Turns out she was the godmother to his kid. Who knew?
There is one Walgreens on 34th and 5th. But yor right, not many in NY
Well, it wasn't Correctol for it is gentle.
I'm hearing that he was found dead inside one of the Olsen twins. Or am I not getting the whole story?
Doxidan is gentle. Has a ballad about it and everything. Didn't know there was a Walgreens in NYC. Hmmm.
Uhhh, people? "Can't quit you" jokes? Come on... anyone?
Meanwhile Amy Winehouse chokes down handfuls of horse tranquilizers, a fifth of vodka and more rock than Courtney Love can smoke.
...at least that's what she says.
It makes me really depressed that people are so goddamn callous and unfeeling. This whole Jerry Springer, self absorbed, "bitch" culture makes me want to fucking vomit. I wasn't a "fan" but a 28 year old person is dead and whether it was an accident or self-inflicted, it still is sad. Why is it so difficult to feel for someone you don't know?
Umm, I just wanted to add that I was sad that he is gone. Brokeback Mtn. was a very good movie. He was sort of unappealing in reality but, I didn't hold it against him. I didn't know him personally, so it is a bit awkward to say that I will miss him but... I WAS looking forward to a sequel to Brokeback. AND, I am still sad that he is gone.
This is a rough bunch.
People would just as soon post jokes about a bus of nuns being hit by a train.
Personally I like the sarcasm, but also feel that people are flipped and a bit shocked, and just releasing feelings by making rude comments.
It's extremely sad that someone so talented died.
Really really sad it might be drug related. He was so damn young. What a waste.
BTW a person who gives massages and is male is not a fucking "Masseuse"
He is a "Masseur"
This is very sad and shocking news to hear, and it sounds like he really loved his daughter...
This thread is tame compared to the Gothamist comments.
Mariconsoy is right, hearing stories like this just reminds us of our own gaping darkness and impending death. And there's also the celebrity factor -- if it was Joe Smith down the block, we wouldn't bat an eyelash. And we all kind of resent that fact. (It's all still really sad though.)
Using humor to deal with such heaviness seems much healthier than the myriad of addictions that humans (including Heath Ledger) turn to for such reasons. Wouldn't you say?
Also, Gothamist had a recent update saying that his parents found out from the media. How sickening.
maybe he was really gay and couldn't accept it
at least he wrapped Dark Knight, I'd hate to have had them do some Crow bullshit.
also, he just got the Gilliam curse. Poor Gilliam always having actors die on him.
skyliner, be thankful you have the chance to critique everyone's reaction. If he had been poor, non-White, and non-famous you probably wouldn't have known about it.
You know, "non-famous" is enough, zippy monster. Poor and non-white don't matter here. Keep your "society is racist and classist" mantra out of it. (Said with a wink and a smile.)
one good movie does not a "talented actor" make. am i forgetting some great performance?
You know, "rroseselavy", you're right. Surely there are no racists in San Francisco... or California for that matter. Glad we cleared that up.
Does anybody have a list of all the 28 year olds who died on that day? I need to be properly saddened.
