The 22 Will Not Be Eaten By A Tiger Today
We were walking down Fillmore Street near the SFist Staff Writer Dickensian Workhouse just now, and in the time it took us to go from Page Street to Fillmore Street, we were passed by no fewer than five 22-Fillmore busses. The first was packed the gills, the last was predictably empty.
It's obvious that busses travel in packs to avoid predators (thanks for that one, Chris!), and given recent happenings at the zoo, we certainly don't blame MUNI for taking precautionary action, but isn't this taking it a little far? Surely three busses in a row is enough to deter any bulldozers, maniacal SUVs, or lethal felines.

The packed one was likely school children/teens liberated from the institutions for the long weekend.
There was a large car accident at 16th St. and Folsom today before 2:00. I passed it on an eastbound 53 Southern Heights around 2:00. When I was traveling west on a 22 Fillmore, the intersection was blocked to westbound traffic. The driver let us off there and I walked by a handful of stopped 22 Fillmores and 33 Stanyans lined up along 16th St.
One time I saw 5 inbound N-Judah's in a row, between UCSF and 9th avenue. Now that made me mad.
Oh consider yourselves fucking lucky. The commute from D4 took over an hour today (at 10am no less). The return trip wasn't as bad, but wast still pitiful, and involved being trapped with the doors closed for a few minutes at most of the metro stops. One of these days...
I remember many firetrucks blocking 22-Fillmore buses when I was at 16th & Mission.
it's an easy route to get stacked up, as all it takes is one traffic jam near Mission or whatever to back 'em all up. Many times when I've been leaving the mission to go home, i've sometimes had to wait forever for a bus to show up (and 3 show up) and sometimes it runs just fine.
A while back I remember the pantographs that connect the busses to the power lines got tangled up in such a way that they had to call out the repair guys to get them untangled, which also delayed things a while so I just walked the long way home instead and got some exercise and scenery in an otherwise boring saturday.
