Fucking hell. They have these really high tech devices on the trains to avoid acidents like this. Know what they're called? MIRRORS. So what is this, the seventh murder to date in the city?

The driver of the car at the 44th Avenue and Taraval Street accident was driving with a suspended license AND ran a stop sign, so it really wasn't the MUNI driver's fault in that case. The article says that this other guy wasn't HIT by the MUNI, but rather was attempting to board when the door closed and he tripped and went under the streetcar. So he wasn't HIT and if happened way in the back, I don't see how the MUNI driver would know. Of course the doors might have closed ON HIM and dragged him with the car until he fell out and under.

Thanks to the zoo and the deadly transportation systems, not to mention the nightly murders, the population of SF must be dropping at a steady rate. I'm all for population control but not like this.

Well, there's a little ridge on Judah St. at 31st Avenue that can hide an inbound train from view until it's almost at the intersection (I catch it there in the morning sometimes), and even muffles the sound to some extent. Someone with impaired vision/hearing might not notice it until it's too late. I know there's a senior citizens' center right there.
