Murderous N Judah Streecar Drags, Kills Pedestrian
N Judah Chronicles' Greg Dewar will not be pleased. And neither will the rest of you.
Just weeks after colliding with a 90-year-old woman on the corner of 9th Avenue and Irving Street, an inbound N Judah stuck a man at 31st Avenue, dragging him to 28th, killing him in the process. Overhead news helicopters, a Judah Street closure, and a police investigation followed suit. What's more, according to the Gate:
The incident was the second Muni accident of the night. About an hour earlier, a streetcar struck a car at 44th Avenue and Taraval Street, injuring several people who were transported to San Francisco General Hospital, a Muni spokeswoman said. The number of people hurt and the extent of their injuries had not yet been determined, she said.
Charming.
The N Judah death, which occurred a little after 9 p.m last night, "stretched several blocks and...was very bloody." Of course, this raises many questions. For example, who was the victim? What was he doing at the time? How in the hell did the streetcar operator not know that they had just hit someone? Did any passengers know? He was dragged? Will the N Judah please stop its current campaign of perambulator terror?
We will update you with more info as it comes to us.
Update: The Municide (TM SFist tipster) victim has been identified as 40-year-old Mark Callaghan. And--get this--it seems that the San Francisco resident was attempting to board the N-Judah train at 31st Avenue "when the doors closed...Callaghan tripped and fell...then was dragged underneath the streetcar." Jesus.

---an inbound N Judah stuck a man at 28th Avenue, dragging him to 31st---
Maybe it was an outbound train, if it was going from 28th to 31st?
Otherwise that might explain the accident!
"math is hard"
fixed.
Bushy Hyde.... I had the SAME thought as I read the article! Thank you!
Well, there's a little ridge on Judah St. at 31st Avenue that can hide an inbound train from view until it's almost at the intersection (I catch it there in the morning sometimes), and even muffles the sound to some extent.
Someone with impaired vision/hearing might not notice it until it's too late. I know there's a senior citizens' center right there.
Thanks to the zoo and the deadly transportation systems, not to mention the nightly murders, the population of SF must be dropping at a steady rate. I'm all for population control but not like this.
You should photoshop some menacing teeth on the front of that N Judah. That would have totally made this article.
Who's killed more people this year- the Nortenos or MUNI?
This story has been updated on SF Gate...the man has been identified.
was it the guy that writes the n-judah chronicles?
retribution maybe?
Being killed by a streetcar is a long-established hazard of urban living. The NY Times seems to specilizing in archving these sad tales:

If we've learned anything from this it is this: Do not taunt MUNI streetcars.
The driver of the car at the 44th Avenue and Taraval Street accident was driving with a suspended license AND ran a stop sign, so it really wasn't the MUNI driver's fault in that case.
The article says that this other guy wasn't HIT by the MUNI, but rather was attempting to board when the door closed and he tripped and went under the streetcar. So he wasn't HIT and if happened way in the back, I don't see how the MUNI driver would know. Of course the doors might have closed ON HIM and dragged him with the car until he fell out and under.
Fucking hell. They have these really high tech devices on the trains to avoid acidents like this. Know what they're called? MIRRORS. So what is this, the seventh murder to date in the city?
