Update: Hazardous Material Spill Prompts Shelter In Place Warning

Poor BVHP. Can't they get a break?

It seems that today's hazardous material spill snafu was due to a leaking drum at a Bayview-Hunter's Point city corporation yard. The spill "prompted a shelter in place warning." That tis to say, it's time time to go inside, close doors and windows, turn off air conditioning or heating systems, and flip on the radio or TV for further info if you're near 2121 Evans Street.

According to CBS 5, at 11 a..m. today "[w]orkers in the area reported suffering headaches after the leak began, and ambulances responded." A hazmat team was called in to investigate to toxic spill. (Wonder if any Silkwood-ish showers had to be administered? We could really use one of those. They must do wonders for the skin.)

The underfunding and lack of oversight in this City is creating quite the business opportunity for litigious Californians. Maybe we should all start working on our law degrees .... suing the City might be the path to financial security.
