Breaking News: Gavin Newsom's Town Car Scratched!

Yeah, we could hardly believe the headline ourselves. Do people have no shame?
We missed this one, but yesterday Mayor Gavin Newsom's town car was vandalized by a parolee. Outside Newsom's Russian Hill apartment, Gregory Burgos, 41, was sauntering down the road, saw le Gav's shiny black car along with the two officers inside it (assigned to protect the Mayor), pulled out a sharp object of sorts, and scraped it along the side of the vehicle. (An aside: do his bodyguards work 24 hours protecting him? Impressive.)
Whether or not the assailant knew that the car in question was that of our dear mayor's remains to be answered. But according to the Examiner, Burgos then took off after his sudden urge at self-expression, which lead to an early morning chase. "When the officer caught up to Burgos a couple blocks away...there was an intense struggle before the man was taken into custody."
The city-issued car is listed in stable condition. Burgos was booked on suspicion of felony vandalism, resisting arrest, and violating his parole. Oh snap. The wrong car to mess with, Greg.

oh boo hoo. so his taxpayer paid limo (oops town car) got a ding. like anyone in SF who parks on the street doesn't get dings anyway...and since when is a scratched car a felony, much less a felony that gets prosecuted?
all those who've had a car keyed and seen no justice, raise your hands....
I wonder if the car was in the crosswalk. I know an AWFUL lot of people who handle cars blocking crosswalks this way.
Doesn't the law state that they would have to actually seen him doing the deed?
That's what Judge Millian says about these kinds of cases on People's Court.
Can't he afford a garage space? That tall white building he lives in does have them...
OK, I have to ask. How come the official Mayor of San Francisco's car is not a Prius or something "green?"
according to reports, officers were inside the car as the suspect went on a scratching spree.
re something "green?" i think i need my mayor driving something sleek and exclusive like a town car. a prius or a truck generated by corn kernels is just a bit too self-righteous, imo.
Wow, how do you spell STUPID? Not one, but two full grown men sitting in the car that you're about to scratch up ....
Personally, I'm still astonished that whats-his-face-Senator (Pirahna? hehe) in Oakland drives a state issue Charger with the big rims. That's what makes people violently outraged about tax increases.
"Pull up to my bumper baby, in your big black limousine..."

Keying cars is valued form of self-expression, it appears.
Gavin should ride Muni.
