Help Save Hangar One down at Moffett Field

hangar102a.jpg
Word comes from local conglomerate Telstar Logistics about attempts to save the ginourmous blimp hangar down in Silicon Valley. The Save Hangar One people are holding a meeting at the front gates of Moffett Field tonight at 7:00 P.M. Without the hangar, where would the boys from MythBusters experiment? Where would the Google Blimp (hey, they might get one someday) park at night? Courage. Details here.

Come on people ... if it no longer has a practical use, repurpose it .. I think there are folks who need housing who would appreciate the roof (though proximity to successful panhandling lcoations may not be optimal). I jest.

The Google Air Force now has four jets. Obviously a blimp is the next logical step, so keeping it empty until the time comes seems the best approach.

Maybe Adam and Jamie can buy it - I hate the idea of them having one less option for blowing things up in relative safety. :/

I really dig that hangar... maybe I'm crazy. I have fond memories as a child going to airshows at Moffett before they canceled them for good. The hangar got filled with aircraft of all varieties.

You freaked me out! I thought my vodka supply was in danger. I can go about my day now.

I didn't make the Hangar One/Vodka connection at first. I think i was thinking about Ketel One - I forgot about Hangar One.

It's all the same anyway, right?

haha

RinconHillSF, you are truly a genius. Let's ship all our homeless down there and create a beatiful domed community, just for hobos!

Hangar One Vodka is made at the former Hangar One at NAS Alameda - NOT at Moffett. The Mythbusters guys do not use this hangar, they do most of their 'busting' over at the former NAS Alameda also. The Moffett Field hangar has so many decaying toxins in the material that covers it that it has been closed to human use for years. That is why the Navy might have to tear it down - to protect the health of the men and women who work at NASA Ames next door, the people who live in Mountain View and the surrounding communities, and also to keep the toxins from washing into San Francisco Bay and poisoning the wildlife.

thanks for the post. I think people were just joking around with the Hangar One reference.

Specifically recall the MythBusters taping several bits at Moffett Field, including Helium Football and the big paper folding exercise.

Don't know for sure which hangar they were in.
