Electronic Frontier Foundation's 17th Birthday Bash

EFF-17.jpg

Speaking of Boing Boing, they have word that Electronic Frontier Foundation - the "first line of defense" in our right to free speech, privacy, awesome innovation, and consumer rights - is having a birfday party. For those of you unfamiliar with EFF, ahem:

Blending the expertise of lawyers, policy analysts, activists, and technologists, EFF achieves significant victories on behalf of consumers and the general public. EFF fights for freedom primarily in the courts, bringing and defending lawsuits even when that means taking on the US government or large corporations. By mobilizing more than 50,000 concerned citizens through our Action Center, EFF beats back bad legislation. In addition to advising policymakers, EFF educates the press and public.

All that nobility and techie altruism, plus they're going to have hyperfancy chocolatiers TCHO at their bash. Described as "a new chocolate company for a new generation of chocolate enthusiasts," we can only assume that this new cocoa endeavor goes above and beyond Zotter, which employs bacon in its chocolate. But even without pig-infused chocolate: mmm.

Bitter sweets aside, the birthday bash will also feature Bootie's Adrian & the Mysterious D - you know, the kids at the forefront of the mashup sound? These two will take care of all of your dance floor needs as you help EFF enter its brooding and sexy teen years.

What: EFF's 17th Birthday Bash
When: January 15, 2008
Where: 111 Minna Gallery

Time: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
