1) Judge Newsom looks like a spookier version of Garrison Keillor (hard to do, despite loving PHC & Keillor) 2) Whatever kid Siebel was trying to look all scary at was probably crying. At least if I were five or under she would've scared me! ...Is it just me, or is she started to get that Maria Schriver-mummified look?

There were some good ideas in his spiel after getting sworn in. I like the idea of recruiting retirees to help mentor SF public school students in order to hopefully increase those kids' chances of finding gainful employment. I'm not sure about this $500 bond thing for kids who are born here and make it to graduate in the public school system's high school ... what departments get cut to help fund that or will that be funded by private donations? Anyway ... a good day for Newsom and his bride to be. The rotunda area was pretty well packed ... 2-4 folks deep on the 3 upper level siderails. Too bad the State of California's budget deficit of $14 billion will mean less state money for the City .... and then there's the charter amendment that will spend another $33 million or so from the general fund ... I'm afraid San Francisco's credit card may be over its maximum if voters pass that thing in November. Leave it to politicians to create bills that the future generation has to pay through a loss in services or through higher taxes/fees.
