Mission St. Closure

1.JPG

MUNI-related pneumonia-seekers may want to try waiting for the 14 Mission -- Mission Street is closed between 20th and 21st. It looks like something involving the former Tower Theatre -- a fire truck has a long ladder extended up to the top of the sign.

A couple more pictures after the jump.

Some guy told us the buses were running on Capp, but when we walked over there we found a tree blocking half the road. And how do electric buses take a detour, anyway?

As we made our way down the even-more-trash-strewn-than-usual Mission sidewalk, we saw a 14 Limited threading its way down 20th St.:

Has anyone else noticed how quickly the "crazy quotient" drops in SF when the weather gets bad? I just got back from the snowy, frigid northeast where you could barely tell the difference between tired laborers trying to get home and bums littering the street. Bad weather knocks the convenience of acting crazy and begging for change out of people pretty damn fast. A few more weeks of this wonderful weather and those supposed nutjobs will suddenly find the ambition and money to get their lazy asses to Arizona. For a good example, check out how clean Haight Street is today...bucolic even.

Is anyone missing a 14 bus? We've got three of them hunkered down here on 26th at Mission:

They've been here for at least 20 minutes and show no signs of going anywhere soon.

An hour later there are now 5 marooned buses lined up on 26th, 4 more inbound buses parked on Mission at 26th, and a couple of outbounds also. Meanwhile, lots of wet people waiting for buses down at 24th and Mission.
