SF Zoo Reopens Tomorrow Boasting Memorial, New Features
The morbidly curious, a smattering of animal enthusiasts, and, of course, the media will line up to get into the SF Zoo when it reopens to the public at 10 a.m. tomorrow. In addition to a Tatiana-free environment, zoo visitors will also notice a few other changes. For instances, new signs reminding visitors that they are "guests in the [animals]" and not to "tap on glass, throw anything into the exhibit, make excessive noise, tease or call out to them." (We can't imagine to whom they're referring.) Also, reinforced-glass will make its debut in the tiger grotto, as well as loudspeakers telling visitors to scram come closing time.
Well played, SF Zoo.
In addition to the zippy revamp, visitors coming to the zoo can "leave mementos and tributes at the main entrance to both Tatiana and Carlos Sousa Jr., the 17-year-old from San Jose killed in the mauling." But not in two separate places, we hope. That would be a crude pissing contest - seeing who receives the most memorials. Then again, the sames goes for putting the tributes together - killer and victim mementos side by side. Huh. Tomorrow should prove interesting.

i'm going to post picture/sign on carlos sousa's memorial webpage(s) on myspace as soon as i can figure out how to do it
were going to the zoo tomorrow too
Loudspeakers to tell them to scram... isn't that against their "new" policy about not to make excessive noise?
And even if those guys taunted the tiger, shouldn't the exhibit be up to appropriate code to even prevent this type of shit to happen?
That's an unnecessarily friendly and wordy warning. What's up with the Stasi-like "snitch on your neighbor" program? "Excessive noise?"
"Hey you kids, stop having fun!"
They should use signs like those at Ocean Beach: "People have died here. Don't fuck around with dangerous animals. No lifeguard on duty. Have a nice day and remember to breathe."
A source close to the investigation said the rock found in the habitat measured 9 inches, and a tree branch and pine cones were found that came from trees that were not near the tiger's enclosure.
Anyone know if the Reindeer Romp ice skating resumes tomorrow also?
looks like it was scheduled to end on new years day

call them tomorrow
"Then again, the sames goes for putting the tributes together - killer and victim mementos side by side. Huh. Tomorrow should prove interesting."
I love you, Brock.
Hope to God that if these vodka drinking slingshot no talkers ( as the media call them) really did taunt that beautiful tiger, that they are not going to be able to get any compensation. There are consequences to every action and it seems they learned a lesson about hurting extinct animals. The Zoo should be able to award them money and then take it away for being low lifes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but is it still cool if i bring my slingshot?
Can I get a witness?

Finally. And...four boys now? How awful that this witness reports Sousa was the only one NOT taunting.
If this holds up, things may get very bad very quickly for these kids. Wow.
I wonder if the zoo used credit card or cellphone records to find witnesses.
