Tiger Victim a Hero?
New information about the SF Zoo tiger attack has been released by police chief Heather Fong. Based on information gathered from the two survivors, brothers Paul Dhaliwal and Kulbir Dhaliwal, Carlos Sousa Jr. actually saved one of them from being killed. Apparently, when Tatiana originally went after one of the brothers, Sousa courageously tried to draw her attention away from his friend, which worked (obvi).
Fong also clarified that there was indeed no shoe found inside the waist-high fence that is intended to keep visitors and tigers from interacting. However, a shoe print that was found on the fence may provide more information on whether or not Tatiana was taunted by the threesome.
Read more about it here. Also, read here about how the enclosure actually doesn't meet big cat safety standards. Oopsy.

my theory on this is great. he realized that after taunting the tiger to jump over that he may have killed himself and his friends in doing so. he died trying to do the right thing and only sacrifice himself. bravo!
it won't bring back the dead tiger unfortunately that died at no fault of her own.
to that end i say fuck you santos family, you poor excuse for human beings!
Wow ... how do folks mistake a 12 foot wall for being 20 feet high? I don't get it. And the wall was constructed 67 years ago and inspected by some zoological outfit, and no one seemed to recognize the wall is 8 feet shorter than the advertised 20 feet? Wow. I can here the scurrying feet of lawyers down to San Jose now...
no way jamie. how do you sue when you provoke a deadly animal to kill you?
(shrug) ... it is beginning to sound like the poor kid that died may have not have been doing anything wrong except for hanging around some POSSIBLY bone-headed 20-somethings who took the safety of their position behind a 12 foot wall for granted. I don't know that a lawsuit would be successful, but I would guess, being a layman in regards to laws and what not, that there's some negligence there on the part of the zoo (12 feet versus 20 feet - wow).
We'll see ... California has a reputation for being a very litigious state anyway. People sue each other for lotsa silly (and serious) reasons.
And sources close to the investigation tell The Chronicle that the surviving brothers have not been entirely forthcoming during interviews with police.
Hmmm....
Very interesting that the kids were not at the cafe when the attack happened, they ran over there when they started getting attacked ("because there were more people there" ...charming) and the tiger followed them.
The plot thickens...
I blame society. And the metric system. The wall was supposed to be 16.4 feet high, which, as everyone knows, is five meters. No one knows how to measure that correctly in the construction business. Shoot, they throw away half the nails they get because the pointy part is on the wrong end.
"to that end i say fuck you santos family, you poor excuse for human beings!"
Who the hell is the Santos family and do you ever shut up?
I watched Wild at Heart again last night and there was a bloke in it called Marcelo Santos who was a bit of a baddy. Maybe he was visting the other Santoses for the holidays, went with the family to the zoo, but sneaked away leaving the other members to fight the tiger. Maybe he got a silver dollar through the mail before Xmas and passed it on to the tiger. I really wouldn't put anything past Santos, he got Sailor stitched up, so why not these guys?
i meant sousa family zig sorry. and no i do not shut up and i will dedicate my life to annoying the shit out of you for the rest of time. at least now i will have purpose.
;)
ONE THEORY
IMHO went something like this: The Dhaliwal brothers (the 2 living victims) are Hindis from northern India where tigers are NOT rare. Carlos (deceased) and the 2 Hindi brothers were obviously buddies visiting zoo. They snuck a few beers past the front gate. As usual (per SFPD) they were all a bit 'lit'. One of the Dhaliwal boys bragged about how he knew tigers well from back home. There was a double-dare by Carlos to go down into the tiger paddock and taunt the big cat, Tatiana. He noticed that the 12' wall had a protruding ledge. The moat was dry (as usual) and was no problem to get across along the other wall. He left a footprint along the railing as he climbed down.

First of all, the only victim here is the tiger. I firmly believe that malice is an act that is breeded from 2 legged creatures (people), not animals. That individual who was killed by that deadly yet innocent creature unfortunatly was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and if he was taunting that animal, he does not get any pity from me, nor does his father, who so boldly stated that he did not care whether or not his son or his friends were taunting the animal. I feel sorrow for the true victim here, Tatiana, who lived a life confined in exploitation, solely for the benefit of the zoo, and who ultimately lost her life simply because she escaped her prison and killed a person who may have taunted her. God bless the innocent creatures of this world who are continuously tortured, killed, trapped and exploited by the true evil, humans. Tatiana, Rest in peace.
