@Spencer Williams

Yes, I noticed this, and feel vindicated 'cause I think Good Girl Gone Bad really is the album of the year. It was a weak year, frankly, and honestly that album has 3 or 4 total clunker tracks (the Band of Horses record was also a nice surprise but equally flawed). But it also had three deservingly huge hits, and the title track is probably the best little anthemy thingy I've heard in a long time. There wasn't really a Best Album, Rihanna was the closest thing to it. Maybe I picked Rihanna over Band of Horses just because deep down I like to be contrarian and I have an anti-intellectual bent. But I don't anticipate seeing many other writers distinguish this Rihanna record thusly, so yes I am happy to see even one person agree with me on this.

plumpy - I alerted Spencer to his little mix-up this morning. I'm sure it will be corrected shortly.

Is no one willing to go on record with their pick for Mash-Up of the Year?

Is it really true that Deborah N. doesn't know the name of her favorite album this year? I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that was a transcription error.

I would definitely say that Ramblin Man was definitely the song of the year... in 1977!

...apostrophe!
