The Bitter End Bathroom Warning

Last night, while waiting for a table for three at Burma Superstar on Clement, we decided to spend our 45-minutes (well worth the wait) grabbing some beers (and a sparkling water for us, of course) at The Bitter End. While in the bathroom, we were entertained by the many scribblings adorning the door. Our favorite was this.

(DON'T) FUCK J. BRANDON T.

Whether the parenthetical information was added after the original "Fuck him" graffiti or not, we were pretty stoked about finding a layered message in a bar restroom. Does anyone know J. Brandon T.? Are you J. Brandon T.? What's wrong with you, dude?

We also saw Sweeney Todd yesterday. Fun times.

I'm convinced women's bathrooms must have better graffiti than men's.

Really, SFist? This is all we gots goin' on today? I fucking hate Christmas. Even my Jewish deli was closed.

I am so jealous, not of the now infamous J. Brandon T. but of you, Deborah, for going to see Sweeney Todd.

I can't believe you mentioned it, but don't even say if you liked it or not... dish please!

Well, Spencer. In an interview about the film (in regards to his approval of the cast), Sondheim remarked that he's always preferred actors who can sing over singers who can act. Since you are a musical fan and no doubt appreciate the majesty that is the Sweeney Todd score, I'm sure that you can read between the lines there. I do have to say that the film was entertaining. Also, the sets can be reused for Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde! Say what you will about Frank, but I have a hunch that he would never allow less than amazing singers to take on the roles of Jekyll/Hyde, Lucy, and Emma.

For a score of that ability and rigors of the story, one would be safe to assume that you would need to be both a singer and actor for it to 100% work. I would think that is one of the main reasons Sweeney Todd isn't done that often - there aren't many people that actually can.

Now, I'm interested to see if Depp can pull off the singing - we know he can act.

Thanks for letting me know!!!

F Burma Superstar. It's all about Mandalay...

I am not now, nor have I ever been, J. Brandon T.
