Sorry, BART's union contract prohibits the use of any technology newer than 20 years old, so no chance of it getting the message boards upgraded.

Joy. So what happened to the NextBus displays that suddenly and mysteriously turned into sfmunicentral.com displays? BART never shows the arrival times? Given how rarely BART is ever on-time, that's quite a travesty. Har. Har. Har.

info screens so cluttered with reminders about tickets and pickpockets that they almost never show arrival estimates, or even the current time Amen. I contemplate vandalizing those things on a daily basis. Someone needs to haul the BART Board of Directors into a dark alley and do unspeakable things to them until they all agree to stop acting cute and post the time and next arrivals on those screens and NOTHING ELSE. Why are the screens ever blank? It doesn't make sense. It only serves to frustrate people.

@1 I've seen that kind of craziness. I usually punch in 4th & King as a starting point because I know the best way(s) to get there from my house (hint: get off the L/M/T at Powell and take 30/45 or walk).

I'm not sure that I see folks actually buying stuff from that news stand, but it is a nice distribution spot for free brochures and what not in addition to magazines and smiles. It sits between a Muni and BART booth ... enter around Davis Street or Main Street, and it is staring you in the face.

I needed to get to a wedding at Stanford last summer. I'm in Russian Hill. They had me take BART to Fremont and then 3 busses. travel time: 12 hours. I had to make up an address on King St. to get the Caltrain option [worked out very well]. they never suggest 19; it is go to union and van ness. umm I am going to vallejo and van ness because i am more likely to barely make the bus.
