The forgotten, the lonely, the poor. Many people die on our streets ever year. I'm glad that such organizations, such as Network Ministries, acknowledge the people who are "ignored" everyday. Just because someone doesn’t have a home, doesn’t mean they shouldn't be remembered for their time here. It’s a tragedy that many people face everyday in our city. When you find yourself sleeping on the streets after being turned away from a shelter due to full capacity, and succumb to the elements... death can happen.

We are one bitchy heartless group, eh? Oh sorry forgot to be PC- we are a group of individuals who are sometimes very fucking mean, me included. I don't think the memorial is bad. It's horrible that people die on the street in front of plain view. I just smell the undertone of "it's your fault" for not turning the entire city into BMR housing. I can just see the "advocates" on the news right now...

how many of them died last year? i'm starting to think that none of them are crazy. watch them walk around talking/yelling at themselves. if they were crazy, they'd walk into traffic or in front of trains. they never do, unfortunately. they are all faking it!

One minor correction: It's not a march, just a memorial service. & Rob: What the Hell would be wrong about having an interfaith service commemorating those who had died while addicted to crack? It's not about glorifying anything or anybody: It's simply about remembering people in our lives who have passed away.
