Guess When the Cosco Busan Departs & Win Win Win!

It's the same old ship, but we spotted a new Pilot and a new Captain atop the bridge a few days back. It's safe to say that this vessel will be well-scrutineered by the Coast Guard, the SFPD and others when it hits the road. Larger photo from our iPhone here.

Some have said the "Costco Busan" is ready to sail with little notice, yet it keeps hanging around, dragging our hearts around like an unwanted house guest We just don't know when this ship will sail. What do you think?

Just leave a comment stating the date and time you think the Cosco Busan will pass 'neath the International Orange Gate Bridge and into the deep briny. Only one entry per commenter. Our cut-off time is December 18th at 11:59 PM so get cogitating and post a comment with your best guess soon. Closest time wins.

What's the prize, and a few more updates, after the jump!

At the very least, the prize will be bragging rights. We'll will work on getting the winner something more tangible, but we can't promise two tickets to see Rambo IV: Holy War, First Blood Part Four or some other movie or show because it might not be playing when this ship blows town. Satisfaction is not guaranteed, but we'll try.

Why do people call it "Costco" Busan? It's almost a homonym, huh? COSCO stands for China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company of course, while CostCo stands for... we don't know. Maybe it's (Low) Cost Co(mpany) or something. (We DO know that Price Club got it's name from the improbably-named Mr. Sol Price and that Smart & Final was once owned by Mr. Smart and Mr. Final, so give us a little credit.)

And Mesdames Feinstein and Boxer are continuing to call for the end of bunker fuel use in U.S. waters based upon, in part, on our famous oil spill. That can't be good news for the people at BunkerWorld.com, can it? Courage.

But back to The Contest. Do you subscribe to the "dark of night" theory? You know, the one that says the Busan will make a run for it at around 3:00 AM to avoid the harsh glare of the camera eye? If so, factor that in.

Choose wisely.
