Defy Newsom And Face His Wrath
Did she find a horse's head in her office chair the day before? Embattled Susan Leal, who's refused to bow to pressure from Gavin Newsom to resign her position as the general manager of the SF Public Utilities Commission, was hit by a car outside City Hall as she was leaving meetings just before noon today. She was rushed to the hospital, where they found she was okay, if a little shaken.
We like one of the SFGate commenters' take on the sitch: hit by a car "after getting thrown under the bus by Newsome [sic]." We hit the recommend button on that one! You may recall that Newsom has been pestering Leal to resign, either because she wasn't considered a sufficiently loyal Newsomite (she ran against him for mayor), or because she was pushing for public power. You know, if Newsom actually is cleaning house for his second term, the PUC is not the place where we figured he'd start.
.
Newsom's got an alibi, anyways -- he's in Iowa with Hillary Clinton -- but the message has been sent! Chris Daly, be careful out there!
Susan Leal to your right. Best wishes for a full recovery, and keep fighting the good fight, Susan!

You just know it was Peter Ragone in an unmarked sedan.
I will never understand why people still can't seem to spell Mayor Newsom's last name properly. It's six letters. It's an easy to spell and remember name. Anyone who spells it "Newsome" is either the tragic victim of some sort of brain injury, or the ancestors to the people portrayed in Idiocracy.
Greg, you're missing options number three and four:
3.) Doesn't care
4.) Couldn't figure out how to spell Newscum.
Newsom's in Iowa with Hillary? Awesome move. Nothing like flaunting the SF gay rights mayor to get the rednecks frothing at the mouth.
Edwards or Obama '08.
Maybe she was distracted- talking on her mobile phone...
Wonder if she got VIP treatment at SFGH or if she had to wait the normal hours to been seen.
What exactly is vip service at SFGH? Like when you have a sprained finger from typing nasty remarks and get seen before those who were only hit by a car?
perhaps the 400k she doesn't deserve will help cushion the fall. most people who get fired/laid off/whatever get 2 weeks pay.
(the whole class turns back and looks at little Carol Migden)
