I too thought we were holding onto that damaged metal football field until whoever owns it pays up? What up Gav? Arnold? Why are you letting the collateral get away? Now I certainly don't know everything about nautical law, so if I've missed something, someone educate me.

I do sometimes call it "Baghdad by The Bay", tho.

C'mon...I've lived in SF my entire life, and I've grown up around people who call it frisco, and I do too, though of course I usually just say "the city" or San Francisco. In my opinion, if a native wants to call it frisco, fine. It's when an outsider says it when it can get annoying. This whole "don't call it frisco" thing does not describe the whole native population of SF. Far from it in fact...maybe it's more of a class thing? Who knows...

"San Francisco to me is like a house of cards: postcards in glowing colors stacked against the hills that march from The Bay on one side to The Pacific Ocean on the other.

The real magic of The City lies in the way these snapshots remain in the mind, no one impressed more sharply on the consciousness than the next. And when I am far away, The Citys myriad details come floating back to me as tho they were unwinding endlessly on the movie screen of my memory.

Each picture is sharp and complete, glamorized a little by a wisp of fog in one corner and a pennant streaming in the wind atop a skyscraper. Its a sentimental, perhaps corny way to look at a city, but the San Franciscan is hopelessly sentimental and I am hopelessly San Franciscan."

-- from The Late, Great Herb Caen

It's kind of a slight to the actual Frisco, but what the hell. Herb Caen is dead, and he can't tell us what do any more.

Dont call it Frisco. Never, ever, ever, ever do that.

Call it The City, or even San Francisco (pronounced no other way than San Frihn-CIS-co).

Let the Great Debate begin!!

Why not have an insurance policy in place for this kind of thing? Hillary Clinton wants to force us all to have medical insurance, even if we can't afford it. Notice how there are state and local suits against Regal Stone, but no federal suit. I think of all the current candidates for president, none of them would try anything of that kind to protect our coastlines. Dennis Kucinich likely would, but he's trailing so much, I am hoping he'll get pushed onto the ballot with Unity08. The more we get the status quo in poliltics, the more this will contrinue to happen.
