Robbing a store and killing someone should come with some heavy penalties. But their sentences aren't forever (and I'm not sure they should be given that I know plenty of adolescents who make stupid and incredibly hurtful decisions, it's just that most teenagers settle for limiting their pain to themselves and their family & friends).
