Who Is Karma? And Why Is She Such A Bitch?

"Mean nut" restaurateur Luisa Hanson -- you know, the person more or less responsible for the Barleycorn closure -- had a swift bit of karma hurled at her head last week. It seems that her flagship, whimsically branded Luisa's, was forced to shut its door. Nothing too unusual. Yet.
While initially chalked up to "planned renovations," Eater has the real, juicy, rat-infested scoop as it shutting its doors last Friday. it seems that Luisa's health inspection score totaled a limp 64. While nowhere near a Mrs.Lovett's Pie Shop incident, Luisa's score is, well, pretty down there. Far enough to merit a closure. Yikes. Maybe a visit from one brusque Gordon Ramsey is in order?
Oh, and that you're hearing, dear readers, is the din of unadulterated laughter from Barleycorn fans near and far.
The harrowing details details after the jump.
Eater reports the following food fright:
The following is taken from the Department of Public Health report:High Risk: Rodents/Roaches/Flies/Other Animals (Rodents - Immediate Risk)

karma's not a bitch, luisa hanson is for shutting down a pair of successful businesses in nob hill to build another ratcrap-serving overpriced, soon-to-be-on-Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares craptacular restaurant.
Yay. NOT!
I never even went to the Barleycorn and I'm cheering this photo. Shut down a long-established and much beloved bar to put in yet another yuppified Italian restaurant? Boo.
There seems to be a lot of anti-yuppie fervor (and has been for years) in our city, but instead of getting better, it's just getting worse. Are they out-breeding us or something?
And, off-topic, is there anything worse than a hipster-cum-yuppie? (shudders.)
Iris: hipster cum is probably up there on that list.
Rats at Luisa's. How appropriate...
Is this the same Luisa who had a couple iof places in the Cstro some years ago?
I remember her in a mink coat and a big Cady or Lincon.
It's not the report of rats in the place that bothers me. Rats and mice are often in eating places, even with constatnt pest control measures.
it's this part:
"Any food is adulterated if it bears or contains any poisonous or deleterious substance that may render it impure or injurious to health".
Is she putting draino in the cheese shakers?
Pasta a la pesticide?
The whole idea of Luisa's replacing John Barleycorn annoys me (and I'm usually not as anti-"gentrification" as everyone else, so if it pissed *me* off...)
I'd love it if this restaurant were featured on Gordon Ramsey's show, and if GR could mention John Barleycorn every time he chews them out, even better.
I was heavily quoted in the SFBG "expose" about La Hanson. Were the roaches crawling out of her skanky hair????
I am SICK of these low-rent nickel & dime scumbags in this town feeding off it's soul.
Karma is a bitch, don't tread on me. Stay tuned to how Karma is going to f_ck up my scumbag Landlord!!
Tee-hee
Glorious.
Glorious.
"Pasta a la pesticide?"
Yes, but it's pronounced "pest-i-chee-day."
Oh, and yes, this is the Luisa Hanson that had a couple (not sure how many) places in the Castro, as well as in the Mission, the Marina, the Van Ness Corridor, and supposedly there's an infamous episode on Polk St., but I have yet to hear the details or find it in the records.
(And just to be clear, this isn't an anti-yuppie thing so much as it is an anti-crazy-person-messing-with-great-bars thing...)
