So, it appears like the new stacked buses are on the road as of today. Wait, scratch that -- the new stacked bus is on the road today. According to the Examiner, "with only one bus servicing select routes, it may be tough to catch a ride." Well, that's sad. The poor thing -- which it looks like was given the 10-Townsend route, perhaps? -- must be lonely. Sniff.
It looks like it will be some time before you can catch one of these beasts in a crowd-free moment. But if any of you rode it today, do tell.

Hey! Who wants to join the "nine-feet high" club???
An übercool SFist scoop would be if the next "Ask a Muni Driver" was done by one of the operators they've specially trained for these coaches.
I saw it yesterday at the corner of South Van Ness and Market, heading north across Market.
Also, on a related note, are there a bunch of those creepy talking NextBus boxes, or just the one at 2nd Ave and Irving?
It actually looks a little like some Golden Gate Transit buses, with the red, white, and blue scheme. Hope nobody jumps on board expecting a ride to Marin.
I'm not sure if it's a rumor, but I heard if you're lucky enough to catch this double decker, you can just hop on - sans the muni fare. I'd check with the bus driver before just hopping on to be safe though!
MUNI could conceivably post a schedule for the new double-decker bus, but since it is MUNI, the bus would be crushingly late, filled to capacity, and followed by two empty coaches.
Ahahahahahahahaahaha!!!!!!!!
"And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die"

Yes, The Smiths should be the official band of MUNI. They capture the pity, helplessness, angst, and overall spirit of our city's bus system.
Who knows? Perhaps Morrissey took a ride on MUNI which inspired him to start the band. After all, MUNI has been sucking way before The Smiths formed.
it's true. the buses, while in the testing phase, are free:
