Early Morning Gunfire Hits Three in SOMA

map%20stillman%20and%20third.jpg

UPDATE: according to one eyewitness who went to the police station after the drive-by to make a report, "all of the gunshot victims died." However, after talking to SFPD, all victims are listed "critical or serious" condition as of noontime today. We had falsely reported otherwise. Oops.)

A little after 1 a.m. this morning, three people were shot near the intersection of Stillman and Third streets.

Right after the dozen or so gunshots jostled the troubled street, residents in neighboring buildings claim that they saw "two men with guns" get into a (burgundy?) Nissan Sentra-looking car after the shooting subsided, which then sped west down Stillman.

What they (we) also saw was a man lying on the ground. It appeared that he was bleeding from his chest, but also moving as he was picked up and carried away to San Francisco General Hospital by EMT along with the other two victims. No word yet as the their identities or conditions.

While mildly charming during the day, this eastern SOMA neighborhood strip -- located just under the I-80 overpass and a block away from infamous nightspot, City Nights -- is notoriously plagued with aggressive mischief during the night.

Anyway, we'll update as soon as we know more.

I notice you've done a few edits on this story Brock. Until SFGate confirms the victims are dead, it's all just hearsay.

This town is becoming too dangerous. They should build a drawbridge onto the new Bay Bridge span and cut off Oakland after curfew hours.

Going by the count on sfcrime.blogspot.com, the murders last night bring the murder rate to 101 for the year, to date.

Damn a triple homicide, more than a dozen shots fired, whoever killed these people wanted them dead for sure. Organized crime hit?

forget the bridge, shut down that (#&#@$ nightclub. there's a cop or two parked there all night anyway - obviously it's not enough.

Thanks for reminding me why I think I want the Rincon Hill neighborhood map to end at 2nd Street instead of the 1850s western boarder of 3rd Street.

In all seriousness though, there are a lot of criminals who come into this town from outside of San Francisco (not all, but a lot) to stir shit up.

Check out the Southern Station Police Captain's last email newsletter: http://groups.google.com/group/southern-police-and-community/browse_thread/thread/fba22e26bbf7c2ad?hl=en

In there, he mentions they did busted 134 folks suspected of dealing drugs in the Southern Station district, and of the 134 folks, only 36 reside in San Francisco. Clearly, the bridge and tunnel criminals thing is not our elitist bullshit but a reality.

Was Jack's Liquor open? Please, someone tell me the good people at Jack's are ok. (eye roll)

If it was before 2am, I am sure they were still encouraging vagrancy, as always.

Plenty of us 'bridge and tunnel folks' lived in SF for many years, until we were forced to the other side of the bridge due to the ever skyrocketing rents.

Why not point some fingers at the cops? Where are the cops in this town? I never see them around (or now I see them wandering around the tenderloin.. not really doing anything.. just wandering)

eek this place is an 18+ bar?

No wonder.
