SFist Photo: Bests in Show at the S.F. Car Show
This Tango electric car has two seats, a 0-60 MPH time of about four seconds, and financial backing from Silicon Valley types, but is not yet available for general sale. In these ways, it's just like the Tesla Motors Roadster. Maybe they should set up a drag race sometime?

There's still time left to check out all the action at the quinquagenary of the San Francisco International Auto Show. It's only $8 per, with no Convenience Fee. Or you can always just see some photos from your cubicle. Why not?
Now on with the Bests in Show. Up first is the all-electric, "high performance, road-hugging, ultra-narrow" Tango two seater. Dreamy George Clooney drives one. See? More about this handsome devil, along with a MINI station wagon, a new E320 diesel(!) sedan from Mercedes, and an amusingly controversial Toyota.
See you after the jump!.
Spokesmodel or GM's youngest research scientist - a tough call:

Get used to seeing the new MINI Clubman (Clubperson? Clubpersyn?) all over San Francisco. There's a suicide-style "clubdoor" on the right side for easy sidewalk loading. For Americans and drivers in right-side-of-the-road countries, this is a good thing. But if you live in the U.K., you might not appreciate this setup. Sorry chaps.

Check it! Californian's can now lease a new Mercedes diesel E-Class. We have pretty stringent laws in this state, so this news came as a surprise. Is Bluetec the future of diesel?

The new 2008 Toyota Sequoia just sat there, but this very same vehicle was the source of controversy at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show. San Francisco's very own Rainforest Action Network stirred things up, as this video attests. Did dude actually try to eat his fake ID, or was he just trying to make it gross? Hard to say.

So there you have it. The Tango has had its ups and downs over the years but the people behind it certainly "think different". Tell us when you spot one on the streets of the Bay Area.
O.K., see you next year!
